The theme for Helsinki Pride this year is “Encounters”. We talk about the importance of respect and feeling valued and loved – not just by others but by ourselves. Approaching the world with love is at the core of human rights. It is the counterforce to hate and bigotry. It is the common denominator of our humanity and the place from where we can begin to heal and repair the rifts between us.
Our idea shows the warmth within us, the warmth that is present in encounters between people. The warmth that is the source of respect, our acceptance of ourselves and the joy we can bring each other. That warmth, of course, is love, and Respect begins with Pride.
Using thermal imagery and combining it with traditional photography techniques,
